Vic doctors need their freedom back

An online petition asking the Victorian government to return freedom to doctors has gathered more than 5000 signatures.

Petitioner Dr Nathaniel Essey says:

I’m a doctor and abortion is not only against the core of Medicine, the hippocratic oath DO NO HARM, it is also against this country’s freedom of speech.

Abortion is NOT a life saving treatment. Its a life style choice. I did not study 12 years to kill foetus’ nor partake in such acts of cruelty. This is not pro choice! It is the opposite. No choice. In the same way the woman found my place of practice she would be more than capable finding someone else who does. The same goes for prescribing medications. It’s a conscience decision.

If I don’t agree to prescribing opiates to a known drug user, why should I be forced to direct them to someone who will, knowing too well the disastrous effects it has on the body.

No research has ever been published in support of abortion as a gold standard life benefiting treatment. So why are doctors who know too well the devastating effects it has on both mother and foetus (death), being forced to partake?

Please for the honest, life loving, live saving and caring doctors in this world, please please please overturn this conscience suppressing law.

Yours truly,

Dr Nathaniel Essey
Thornbury, Australia

Charry Hemmings says:

I am free to decline any request from a patient EXCEPT a request for an abortion! This should not be so in a “free” country.

Can you write to your MP and urge them to support reform? Here’s how.
