Empowering young Australians to be a clear Christian voice
Around the world, Christians’ rights of conscience are under attack. In the US, a new government measure means that Catholic and other health care providers could be shut down if they do not tell women with a crisis pregnancy where to get an abortion, even if this goes against the provider’s conscience and professional judgement.
In Victoria we have a similar problem. Under the abortion law passed in 2008, a doctor must refer a pregnant woman for an abortion if she asks for one. A pharmacist must tell a customer where to obtain medication that can induce an abortion, even if the pharmacist has conscientious and professional objections to the medication. This horrendous law is the worst abortion law in Australia.
We are campaigning to Reform Section 8 – to change the Abortion Law Reform Act 2008 to restore the right of conscientious objection to all health professionals: doctors, nurses and pharmacists. This would be a step towards winding back our state’s abortion laws and defending defenceless unborn babies.
You can help by signing our open letter to Premier Napthine and sending the signed letter back to FamilyVoice at GPO Box 9894, Melbourne VIC 3001 by 20 June 2013. We will collect the letters and I will present them to Dr Napthine personally. Please read and sign the open letter, and send it to your friends too.
God bless you as we work together to help those who are helpless,
Pastor Peter Stevens, Victoria state officer
