Shellfish logic

You may have seen the meme on the left. A common line used to defend the “rightness” of homosexuality and so-called gay marriage is the shellfish argument: But the Bible bans shellfish too, why do you pick and choose?

In a nutshell, we need to recognise the difference between ceremonial and moral laws. The New Testament follows the Old Testament creation ordinance of marriage defining it as between a man and a woman. Jesus gave direct special revelation to change a number of Old Testament laws – but not homosexuality.
