Empowering young Australians to be a clear Christian voice

Parent One & Parent Two

Take away gender, and this is what we’re left with.

110107-MumDadremoved“It’s part of an overall attempt at political correctness to diminish the distinction between men and women and to somehow suggest you don’t need both a father and a mother to raise a child successfully,” says Pastor Robert Jeffress of the First Baptist Church, Dallas.

But as John Milbank writes, sexual complementarity is crucial to the human order.

Most of us have enjoyed the benefits of having a mum and a dad. We have enjoyed father love and mother love. We celebrate Father’s Day and Mother’s Day.

The truth is, the mother/father difference provides an important diversity of experiences for children.

Sadly, we are heading toward the loss of sexual difference. Just read about the gender neutral push in Sweden where they introduced a new gender-neutral pronoun into the National Encyclopedia, and the establishment of a gender neutral toy department in London.

If we continue to break down gender roles, we will end up a poorer society rather than a richer one.

Embracing gender-neutral “marriage” destroys diversity. We mustn’t take gender away from marriage. Instead, let us thank God for creating us male and female and celebrate equality-in-difference.
